How we help AI know and name your business

When a buyer asks ChatGPT, AI doesn't pick the best business. It picks the one it knows most clearly. The good news: being known by AI can be built, in a clear order. We call it the CITED method.

The CITED method is Kontento AI's order of work for getting local businesses named in ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity answers. Five things we fix, from the bottom:

  1. C · Crawlable: AI engines are allowed to read your website.
  2. I · Identical: your business name, address, and number match everywhere.
  3. T · Thorough answers: your website answers the questions that land in your WhatsApp.
  4. E · Endorsed: directories, media, and reviews mention you too.
  5. D · Data-tracked: every month we check whether you're named, with the same questions.

Our estimate is that first changes show within 2 to 3 months. Kontento AI is new, so this is an estimate from how AI engines work, not an average of client results. The first step is free: a snapshot of where your business stands in AI answers.

Why your competitor gets named, not you

Picture a parent in Denpasar asking ChatGPT: "good bilingual primary school in Denpasar, and what are the fees?" ChatGPT doesn't go and visit every school. It summarises what is already written online: school websites, Google Maps, directories, media articles, and parents' reviews.

Schools whose information is complete, consistent, and mentioned by others get named. A good school whose information is scattered, or not written down at all, doesn't. It may be just as good. AI simply isn't confident enough to recommend it.

That's what we fix. Five things need to be in place, and the order matters.

C · Crawlable: make sure the door isn't locked

It sounds trivial, but it's often the first problem. Many websites turn away visitors from AI engines without knowing it. Hosting security settings often block ChatGPT and Claude's readers by default. Our own website did too, until we switched it off.

If the door is locked, all the good content inside never gets read. We check whether AI engines are allowed in, whether your pages read as text (not just images), and whether there's a summary that helps AI understand your business quickly.

Door locked

ChatGPT is turned away. Your content never gets read.

Door open

ChatGPT can read every page and summarise it.

What you get: a website open to Google, Bing, and every AI engine. Generally done within days.

I · Identical: one business, one identity

AI builds its picture of your business from many places. The problem is that the details often differ from place to place. Google Maps says "Yayasan Pelita Ilmu", the website says "Pelita School" (made-up example names), and another directory still has the old phone number.

To a person, that's obviously one school. To AI, it can read as three different names that don't inspire confidence. When in doubt, AI names another school whose details are tidy.

AI confident: one business

We align your name, address, phone number, opening hours, and services across Google Business Profile, Bing Places, and the directories that matter. Bing is often forgotten, even though ChatGPT uses Bing as one of its search sources.

What you get: one identical business identity wherever AI looks.

T · Thorough answers: write down the answers you type on WhatsApp

Open your business WhatsApp. The same questions keep coming: how much does it cost, how is it different, who is it for, when can we start.

Buyers now ask AI the same things. If the answers aren't clearly written on your website, AI takes them from a competitor's website that did write them.

WhatsApp chat

Hi, what are next year's primary school fees?

A page on your website

Primary school fees 2027

The first sentence answers directly: the fee range and what's included.

Pages we writeT
  • Fees: an honest range, and what makes it vary.
  • Comparisons: for example national-plus versus international curriculum, written as it is.
  • Who it's for, and who it isn't: so the people who come are the right fit.
  • Proof: licences, accreditation, certificates, guarantees.

Every page opens with the answer, not with "our history since 1998". AI reads like someone in a hurry. If the answer isn't near the top, it moves on to another source.

What you get: pages that answer buyers' questions before they ask a competitor.

E · Endorsed: let others say your name

You can praise your business on your own website, and AI knows that. What convinces AI is other people mentioning you: directories, local media, customer reviews, and communities.

In our small study (10 questions about beauty clinics in Bali, run once on Perplexity, October 2026), one directory site was cited in 6 of 10 answers, more often than any clinic's own website.

  • Local media
  • Parent reviews

The more trusted sources mention you, the more confidently AI recommends you.

So for your industry, we first map which sites AI cites most, then make sure your business is listed there correctly. We also help you run a review programme that follows Google's rules.

What we don't do: fake reviews, or paid "top 10" articles that put your name at number one. That shows results fast, and damages your name just as fast.

What you get: your business named in the places AI actually trusts.

D · Data-tracked: numbers, not feelings

How do you know it's working? We start from the questions your buyers actually type, usually 10 to 30. Every month we ask ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity the same list, and record whether your business is named and in what position.

Because the questions stay the same, the numbers compare month to month. For example, you can see for yourself the change from not named at all to named in 4 of 10 questions.

  • 0Month 1
  • 1Month 2
  • 3Month 3
  • 4Month 4
Illustrative example of how the report reads, not a client result.

We also track visits from ChatGPT to your website, and suggest one simple question for every new prospect: how did you hear about us?

We don't promise rank one, because AI answers change over time. What we promise is measurable work and honest reporting, including when something hasn't worked yet.

What you need to prepare

We handle almost all of the work. From you, we need three things:

  1. One conversation of about an hour, to collect the questions your buyers ask and the facts about your business.
  2. Access to your Google Business Profile and website, or a contact for whoever manages them.
  3. About 15 minutes each month to read the report and approve new pages before they go live.

Nothing goes live in your business's name without your approval. Snapshots and reports are read and written by people, not sent automatically by a machine.

Why the order matters

Many agencies start by writing articles. That's like painting a house whose door is still locked and whose address is wrong on the map. The house may look great, but nobody arrives.

We always start from the first letter, C, and work up to D. Steps C and I can generally be sorted within a few weeks, and the later steps only pay off once those two are tidy.

Where to start

For local businesses, specific questions like "bilingual primary school in Denpasar" are far easier to win than "best school in Indonesia". In our small study (22 questions about schools and clinics in Bali, run once on Perplexity, October 2026), more than 30 schools and campuses and more than 20 clinics were named only once. The space is still open.

The first step needs no contract. Send your business name and three questions buyers often ask. We test them on ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, then check from the outside whether your website and Google profile read correctly. Results in about a week, free, with no access to any of your accounts needed. Get a free snapshot.

Questions about this method

Can I do this myself?

Partly. Steps C and I are technical but learnable, and the self-checks above help you start. What usually takes the time is writing answer pages, mapping which sources AI cites for your industry, and measuring the same way every month. That's the part we do.

How is this different from regular SEO?

Regular SEO chases a position in Google's list of links. We chase being named inside AI answers, which draw on different sources and read pages differently. We still do the SEO foundations, because AI also reads the sources Google trusts.

How much does it cost?

The first snapshot is free. Audit and retainer fees come after the snapshot, because they depend on your industry and how many buyer questions need tracking. You'll know the number before you decide anything. So there are no surprises: after the snapshot, the next step is a two-week audit, then a retainer of at least six months if you choose to continue.

Is there a guarantee?

No guarantee of rank one, and we suggest being careful with anyone who promises it. What we guarantee: a baseline recorded before we start, measured with the same questions every month, and reported as it is.

Is AI naming your business yet?

Send your business name and three questions your buyers usually ask. In about a week you'll have the answer. Free, no contract, no meeting needed.
